Gracie1
Gracie2
Gracie4

Meet Gracie (ARPH #11853)! Gracie is a very sweet, 8 year old, red merle, female Aussie. She is spayed, average-sized and a bit lower energy. She is currently entertaining applications for her new home. Gracie really is a very, very sweet girl, but is a little quirky, so she needs to find that very special home to call her own.

The first thing you need to know about Gracie is that chickens are a big no no for her, so if you have chickens, you can skip on by to the next bio! Gracie has been in the CEA (Chicken Eaters Anonymous) 12 step program here at her foster home, with great success. But, we feel in fairness to her (well and to the chickens) she needs to be in a chicken-free home, as that's what caused her to lose her last home.

Gracie is such a well-behaved dog, she has PERFECT house manners. She will never potty in the house and does not chew or destroy. She is left uncrated while her foster mom is gone, and is a perfect dog. She doesn't counter-surf either, and her foster mom admits to leaving some pretty tempting stuff up there while she has been gone; it's never disturbed. She is quiet and not a barker.

Gracie is very good with cats, but not as good with other dogs. She is not dog aggressive, she can be out and about with other dogs without incident. She can go for walks and never bothers or worries about other dogs walking around the neighborhood. But she can be very bossy with the other dogs she is living with. Some she loves, others she hates. She would be best either as an only dog, or with a male, as she is least fond of other female dogs. She absolutely feel in love with Lucky, one of the other foster dogs in her foster home. They played and wrestled all of the time. But he has gone on to his forever home. The video shows her playing with Lucky.

Gracie really would enjoy a home where she could be someone's little princess girl and get all of the attention she deserves. She is a very cuddly dog who enjoys a lot of affection from her people. She is a complete Velcro dog and follows her person everywhere. She knows her basic obedience commands and has an excellent recall.

Gracie has moderate exercise needs, she is a low key girl and would be happy with a little walk every day, doesn't need to be very long, but if you want to make it longer, she will happily be able to go with you.

When Gracie came into rescue it was clear she had not been well cared for. She had a lot of ticks and was covered in scabs from ticks, she was matted and dirty, and had several rotten teeth in her mouth. Honestly, we will never understand why people get dogs and then don't care for them properly, there is no excuse for that. The rotten teeth in her mouth were very painful for her. But Gracie has since been bathed and groomed, fully vetted and those nasty teeth removed. She is all recovered from her surgery and is ready to find her forever home. Unfortunately, the pre-surgery blood work indicated that Gracie's kidneys are not in the greatest shape. She is currently on Science Diet k/d prescription food and her adopter will need to keep her on that. She is also on some supplements that help boost her kidney function. Gracie is doing very well on these and feels great. She should have several more good years ahead of her!

Gracie's vet bills have been very high because of all the blood tests we have done and her dental work and surgery. If you would be willing to make a contribution to her care, please go to: http://www.aussierescue.com/SupportARPH/DonatetoARPH.aspx and indicate your donation is for Gracie, ARPH #11853. We thank you, and Gracie thanks you too!

Gracie is very good and loving with people. She likes kids but gets overly aroused by running and rough play, so we think a home with no children would probably be the best for her.

The only other thing to know about Gracie is that she is afraid of thunderstorms. She does not become destructive, just paces and wants to be closer to her person. She has been home alone during storms with no problem. If there is an extended period of storms (more than 24 hours) you may have to go out with her so she will potty, otherwise she will hold it forever and that is not good for her kidneys.

Gracie is an awesome little Aussie girl just waiting to find her forever home. If you think that might be with you, please submit an application at: http://www.aussierescue.com/AdoptFromARPH/AdoptionApplication.aspx. Contact Sheri at aussiemom@centurytel.net with questions. (listed 08/18/10)

Sammy1
Sammy2

Adopted 8/21/10!

Meet Samantha (or 'Sammi' as her foster mom affectionately calls her - ARPH #12135)! Sammi is a very beautiful, blue merle, adult Aussie with a full tail. She is 2-1/2 years old, spayed, microchipped, up to date on all her vaccinations and weighs about 60 pounds.

Sammi came to us from a family who adored her. Unfortunately due to a long term family illness, they made the difficult decision to place her into rescue so that she could find the home that an active dog like Sammi deserves. It was a VERY difficult decision!

Sammi loves to play and be with her person. Her foster mom says she bonded easily and is living peacefully with two other Aussies. They go swimming in the lake and run and play in the fenced in yard. Sammi has excellent house manners and is equally happy having the run of the house or being crated while you are gone. She gets along well with other dogs but would be equally happy being the only dog, or having a canine buddy or two. Sammi grew up with a small child in the house and was very gentle with him. She also grew up with cats and lives peacefully with them. She has a 'soft' mouth, takes treats nicely and eats alongside her foster sisters with no food aggression. Her foster mom says Sammi actually CHEWS her food instead of inhaling it like the other dogs.

Sammi is a dog who likes and needs exercise and loves to play with other dogs. She greets strangers as friends with a big wag of her tail and has excellent leash manners. Sammi's foster mom says she is SO sweet and easy live with and given enough exercise outdoors, behaves beautifully indoors. She loves following her foster mom around and settles nicely. She will make an excellent family dog.

Sammi is being fostered in Warrens, and prospective adopters must be willing to meet her there. ARPH does not ship dogs to adopters, sight unseen. If you are interested in adopting Sammie, please submit an ARPH application. If you are an approved adopter, please contact Suzie Frevert, ARPH Rescue Representative at suzie6217@hotmail.com. Chase1
Chase2

Meet Chase (ARPH #12136)! Chase is a 5 year old red-bi female who is super sweet and super smart. She is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations and just waiting for her forever family to discover her.

Chase's foster mom tells us she is a sweet, cuddly dog who needs a firm owner to give her structure and routine. She repays your effort with adoring friendship and trust. She is a happy, wiggling, velcro dog who likes to stay close to you as you move throughout the house but settles nicely and doesn't have to be the center of attention. She learns commands with eagerness and quickness and already knows sit, down, enough, leave it, wait, crate up and shake.

Chase is completely housebroken and not afraid of loud noises like vacuums. She is easy to bathe and groom and enjoys the process. She has no issues with touching her feet and does not bark at passing people or dogs. Chase would rather stay free in the house and wait for you to come home. She is crate trained but does not need it. She doesn't chew and is not destructive in the house. She rides nicely in a car and settles down and sleeps on longer trips.

Chase adores all people, young and old and her foster mom is working on her on leash manners. She is very well-behaved in stores meeting other dogs, and especially seems to love other Aussies. If you have a tennis ball to share with her you will instantly become her best friend but she is not neurotic about them.

Chase will make a wonderful family dog. When you meet her, you will fall in love with her as we have all done. She is being fostered in Madison and prospective adopters must be willing to meet her there. ARPH does not ship dogs to adopters, sight unseen. If you are interested in adopting Chase, please submit an ARPH application. If you are an approved adopter, please contact Suzie Frevert at suzie6217@hotmail.com. (listed 06/28/10)
